Cauliflower Fungus

← Back to herbs & mushrooms
Late summer–autumn (August–October) Mushrooms

The cauliflower fungus was hard to find in the old days and was described as relatively rare. Today it is seen in many places and is becoming quite widespread. It grows best in acidic soil with scattered older conifers and is often the only mushroom that thrives in the places where you find it. It is a fascinating mushroom because it grows so large – one of the very best edible mushrooms.
