Hollow-stemmed bolete stands in thousands late in the year in many spruce plantations with scattered larch trees. It is said to grow exclusively in symbiosis with larch. It is a suillus, but it is not actually slimy! In coniferous forest, you also find grey suillus along gravel paths in smaller groups.

Risotto with larch bolete

Larch bolete is good for risotto because of its slightly elongated consistency. Often you'll want to remove the cap skin to avoid the slimy consistency, but in a risotto it works fine.
